Miles Tierney is a senior undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Geographic Information Science (GIS). He grew up in Brunswick County, North Carolina, where rapid population growth alongside aging water infrastructure sparked his interest in water management and environmental health. Through his work with the Brown Lab, Miles is gaining hands-on experience with water and sanitation research while learning the standards and interdisciplinary methods used to protect public health. He is particularly interested in the role of data, infrastructure, and environmental systems in improving water treatment and management outcomes.
