I am a PhD candidate in the Environmental Science and Engineering program at UNC researching rapid sensing technologies for built environments. I earned my BS in Chemical Engineering from Youngstown State University, where I conducted research on heavy metal contamination and the effects of soil toxicology on phytoremediation.
After graduating, I spent a year as a Materials Scientist in research and development, operating analytical instrumentation to evaluate and improve PPE products and combustible gas sensors. I then worked for a year as an Applications Engineer, where I designed industrial water treatment systems and performed process simulations to assess fouling potential, determine chemical dosing requirements, and optimize water quality.
