Lucy Tantum is a postdoctoral researcher at the UNC Water Institute. She leads research to evaluate the impacts of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions in healthcare facility settings. Lucy's work incorporates surveys, quasi-experimental evaluation of secondary data, and systematic reviews to understand how WASH programs contribute to individual well-being and health system strengthening. She is particularly interested in developing low-cost impact evaluation approaches and building government capacity to collect and use data. Lucy previously worked as a research assistant at Stanford University and as a research fellow at the National Public Health Institute of Liberia. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from UNC and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Dartmouth College.
