Lindsey Long is a Master of Public Health candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in Environment, Climate, and Health. With a background in population health advocacy and research, emergency management, and environmental science, she is passionate about the intersection of environmental systems and human health, particularly in the context of water safety and disaster resilience.
Lindsey’s work focuses on water quality assessment and field-based research, where she conducts environmental sampling, extraction, and analysis to better understand waterborne risks. She is currently working under Dr. Joe Brown to develop an accessible and effective in-field test for Naegleria fowleri (known as the "brain eating amoeba").
She thrives in collaborative lab and field settings and is driven by opportunities to explore the multifaceted relationships between humans and the environment.
