Herbert Cirrus Kaboggoza is a PhD student in Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His PhD research uses environmental microbiology to investigate emerging tools for the surveillance of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria and resistance genes. His research interests include waste-derived carbon materials for wastewater treatment and resource recovery, and biomarker–biofilm interactions. Before joining UNC Chapel Hill, Herbert earned a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from Istanbul University and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from Makerere University.
