Attia Dean is a Research Assistant in Dr. Joe Brown’s lab studying Naegleria fowleri, methods in environmental health microbiology, and human health risks associated with waterborne exposures. Attia is pursuing a Master of Public Health at Gillings School of Global Public Health with a concentration in Environment, Climate, and Health. They hold a BS in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill with minors in Chemistry and Data Science. They are passionate about the intersection of environmental justice and water quality analysis.
