Gillings School of Global Public Health, UNC-CH

Dr. Megan Lott is a research assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Megan holds a PhD in Environmental Health Science from the University of Georgia and a MS and BSPH from the ESE Department at UNC. As a public health microbiologist, Megan is interested in understanding the interactions between humans and microbes in their shared environments. Using a combination of culture-based and sequencing-based methods, Megan develops tools to identify, characterize, and measure microbes of public health concern in both natural and built environments. Megan's research currently focuses on two contemporary issues in environmental microbiology: microbes of the built environment and wastewater-based epidemiology.
