Patrick is a master’s student in the Environmental Sciences and Engineering department at Gillings School of Public Health. He graduated from the University of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Environmental Science. At William and Mary, he conducted research focusing on Toxoplasma gondii prevalence in wild African lions at Kruger National Park (KNP), South Africa. Additionally, he was a part of a One Health research group in partnership with Battle of Lurhwayizo Development (BOLD), empowering community voices surrounding an ongoing conservation issue in Mbhashe, South Africa. In the Brown Lab, he will be working with PreMiEr and Duke Hospital to create a new device for air sampling and multi-microbial analyses, which we are calling the Autonomous Impinger Array System (AIAS). His research interests include disease ecology, one health, neglected tropical and infectious diseases, environmental health biology, and environmental microbiology.
