Kyle Rezek is a PhD student and researcher at the Water Institute. His focus is on lead and other toxic metals in drinking water at the intersection of public health and environmental engineering. He runs lead leaching studies for various water system components from handpumps in rural areas and is experienced at using an XRF to determine if the components meet NSF standards. He is one of the leads on conducting a systematic review for toxic metals in drinking water found in LMICs.

He has a previous masters degree from the University of Florida focused on PFAS degradation in varying water chemistries. He also has a MSPH degree from UNC. He is an active member of both the local and international water community. He is the chair of the student and young professional NC One Water committee and volunteers with the local Water for People chapter. He also was a junior rapporteur for the World Water Week in Stockholm, the Water and Health conference in Chapel Hill, and the UN Water Conference in New York City.
