Abby is a fourth-year undergraduate majoring in Environmental Health Science with a minor in Spanish for the Medical Professions. She is passionate about the intersections of public health, environmental science, and environmental engineering, with a focus on water-related challenges. Abby’s work emphasizes quantitative approaches to solving environmental health problems. In the lab, she researches how cortisol in wastewater can serve as a health monitoring tool, including as a measure of stress. She is also developing a quantitative microbial risk assessment to evaluate infection risks in hospital settings. In her free time Abby likes to read, cook, and his currently training for the Tar Heel Ten Miler.
