Survey of water, sanitation, and hygiene
research priorities and learning challenges under SDG 6
In collaboration with the Sanitation and Water for All Research & Learning Constituency
The Water Institute at UNC, in collaboration with the SWA Research & Learning Constituency, carried out a needs assessment which sought to identify priority research, information access, and learning needs for the partnership as a whole. Representatives from country, research and learning, and “All Other” (i.e., external support agencies, civil society, and private sector) constituencies were targeted. A range of priority research areas, as well as preferences for different types of informational resources and modes of learning, were identified. Priorities differed among constituencies, suggesting that involvement of multiple parties is necessary to develop a common research agenda. The study resulted in a full-length report, briefing note, and presentation at the 2018 UNC Water and Health Conference.
